An Inclusive and Accessible Shopping Experience
Ece Turkey is a regional leader in the malls and shopping centers industry, operating 200 malls across 11 different countries in the EMEA region. Ece Turkey malls cumulatively receive 4 million visitors every day, and in their 11 locations in Turkey, they receive over 20 million footfall ina month, providing services to many shoppers with different requirements and expectations in terms of customer experience. To develop a shopper journey that is inclusive for all visitors and accessible for those with special needs, Ece Turkey management decided to carry out a social responsibility project for the people with disadvantages. The goal was to provide an unhindered shopping experience.
A Mobile App to Provide Autonomous Navigation for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Boni Global developed a mobile application for Ece Turkey using Wi-Fi based navigation and positioning technologies to help visually impaired people find their way in complex venues by themselves. Boni Global’s products for indoor mapping and navigation were used to first create digital maps of the malls, meanwhile Boni Global’s indoor navigation tool provides highly accurate and precise wayfinding for accessible shopping experiences, especially necessary for individuals with limited vision.
Leverage Access to a Larger Customer Base, Improved Brand Reputation and Boost in Customer Satisfaction
Initially the application provided voice guidance for the visually impaired, iconographic guidance was later added to cater to deaf or hard of hearing individuals as well. With this application, users can use the search option to find their point of interest, amenities and exits. With its wayfinding capabilities, the application produces a personalized route for each user that leads to their POI safely. By increasing the inclusivity of their venues, Ece Turkey was able to leverage access to a larger customer base, improve brand reputation and boost customer satisfaction.
