1- Tell us about your background.
I was born in Istanbul and lived in Istanbul until my university years. I received my primary and high school education here. I studied at the University of Gazi University in Ankara, Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering. Even though I loved Ankara during my university years, I returned to Istanbul as I finished my undergraduate education. I took the first steps in my career here (Istanbul) in a firm that provides consultancy in the field of R&D and Innovation. Besides my business life; I also continued to develop myself in the areas I target. In January 2020, I started my master’s degree in Istanbul University – Cerrahpaşa Computer Engineering, and I also contributed to the development of many R&D projects in the field of computer engineering.
2- How was your start with Boni Global and why did you join the company?
At the beginning of this year, we were about to successfully complete the project that we have been carrying out for nearly 1.5 years. In this process, I decided to continue my career in a competitive company that values innovation and technology where I could continue to improve myself. Just at this time, I stumbled upon an open position at Boni in exactly the field that suits my qualifications and where I want to continue to improve and that is how I started working at Boni.
3- How are you adapting to going back to work after quarantine? What are some ways of organizing that you can recommend?
In fact, going back to the office after quarantine was the most motivating factor for me. We started the quarantine process in March and moved into our new office in August and started a new process, the new normal. Our office is located in a central location in Levent, it offers employees a spacious and safe working environment surrounded with greenery. It had a significant effect on my re-adaptation after quarantine. Of course, we should all continue to be careful in the new normal. For this reason, I think we need new understandings for the new normal. Especially in the current situation, I think that hybrid working arrangements should be adopted in the workplaces, as we are doing at Boni. Working 3 days a week from the office and 2 days from home is a method that I can recommend to adapt to this process. With flexible working hours, we can get through this process in the healthiest way by coming to work when public transportation is not busy.
4- What was the idea behind Safe Steps and what was your motivation to be a part of this project?
With the outbreak of the coronavirus in the world and in our country, we were all negatively affected in this process. The idea of “helping people with technology”, which is the foundation of Boni Global and a motivating factor in every employee, has led to the creation of Safe Steps in this process. The questions of what we can do to help keep the outbreak under control, how we can help protect people has formed the basis of this success story. Like every member of Boni, I was proud to be a part of this project with the motivation that I will make a contribution.
5- Can you tell us about the patenting process of a system for contact tracing and filiation method? Compared to alternatives, how does Boni Globl’s method differentiate?
As Boni, we offer an innovative solution for contact tracing and filiation reporting, which experts consider as a critical point for slowing down the transmission of the virus. We started the process by coming up with a way to identify social distancing violations but then asked ourselves how we can add more value to the solution and today we have introduced a new method in the detection of interaction with artificial intelligence technology and the fillation method. As Albert Szent Gyorgyi said, we saw what everyone saw and found out what nobody thought of them.
6- Can you tell us about upcoming projects of Boni Global that are in the development stage? What can we expect from the company in the mid to long term future?
Boni Global continues its research and development activities continuously. As new technological developments emerge and new challenges and constraints appear, we constantly continue our R&D studies and projects with the motivation to improve our products and develop new ones.
7- What are your estimations and predictions about the future of location based technologies and the sector?
With the increasing complexity of buildings and the changing expectations of people, the existing technologies in the field of RTLS (Real Time Location Based Services) are no longer sufficient and require continuous development. Artificial intelligence technologies will be frequently encountered in RTLS applications to improve the performance of location technologies and to improve user experiences. As Boni Global, we closely follow these developments and develop projects in this area. You can click to reach the article about our project, which is also supported by TÜBİTAK.
