An Inclusive and Accessible Visitor Experience for All
As a corporate social responsibility project, Turk Telekom wanted to find a solution to provide accessible visitor experience and inclusive service in large, complex venues such as malls, campuses, mosques, government buildings and airports with the advancements in location-based technologies. The goal was to create a accessible visitor experience to enable the visually impaired to position themselves in the space they are in and find the point of interest they want to go in public areas independently and self reliantly.
A Mobile App to Provide Autonomous Navigation and Accessible Visitor Experience for the Blind and Visually Impaired
In collaboration with Turk Telekom, Boni Global developed a mobile application called Sesli Adımlar using Wi-Fi based navigation and positioning technologies to help visually impaired people find their way in complex venues by themselves. Boni Global’s products for indoor mapping and navigation were used to first create digital maps of the partner venues. Boni’s indoor navigation provides highly accurate and precise wayfinding for accessible venues, especially necessary for individuals with reduced vision.
The most Comprehensive Navigation App With Special Features for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Initially the application provided voice guidance for the visually impaired, iconographic guidance was later added to cater to deaf or hard of hearing individuals as well. With this application, users can use the search option to find their point of interest, amenities and exits. With its wayfinding capabilities, the application produces a personalized route for each user that leads to their POI safely. The aim of Sesli Adımlar is to provide visitors with reduced mobility the ability to position themselves within the building and easily find what they are looking for an accessible visitor experience. For higher inclusivity, the application can be downloaded by all smartphone users, regardless of their mobile operator
